, Racehorse with VERY X-rated name has the last laugh after 150-1 win

A RACEHORSE with a VERY X-rated name had the last laugh after winning at a whopping 150-1.

The bizarrely-named Shita Bed – probably the worst name in racing – was victorious at monster odds in a race in Tokyo, Japan.

It looked like all hopes of victory could be flushed down the pan when the three-year-old was introduced at a three-figure price.

But he managed to hold it all together for the win under jockey Shouhei Takahashi, winning by half a length.

It was a second career triumph for the unfortunately-named thoroughbred.

The horse had been desperate for win No 2 after a maiden victory all the way back in January last year.

There had been some close calls with two third-place finishes and a runner-up in the meantime.

But after rubbish runs at odds of 30-1 and 100-1, Shita Bed wiped the slate clean and bounced back in style.

Amazingly, the horse’s victory seemed to go under the radar.

But punters were quick to pick up on their name after that first win, which came at odds of 200-1.

One racing fan said at the time: “Nearly as good as the greyhound called Puma Pants.”

Another said: “There was a horse called Shatin Secret, used to run in Dubai.”

Part of the fun of owning a horse is getting to pick a memorable name.

But some have backfired spectacularly.

The British Horseracing Authority were forced to apologise after one ran under a racial slur at Wolverhampton in December 2020.

And in the States last year there was fury over another controversial name that had to be changed by authorities.

Others such as Hoof Hearted ran some stinkers during their time, while Gelding Noble Locks was another to make the list of worst names ever.
