Rachael Blackmore rides THREE hot favourites today at 6-1 odds as she closes in on historic champion jockey title

RACHAEL BLACKMORE rides THREE hot favourites today as she closes in on an historic champion jockey title.

Grand National winner Blackmore is chasing down rival Paul Townend in the battle to be crowned Ireland’s top rider.

Punter favourite Blackmore rides three big favourites today

Trailblazing Blackmore, 31, has already made history this season by winning top jockey honours at Cheltenham Festival.

And her victory aboard Minella Times at Aintree was the first time a woman has won the world’s most famous race.

Blackmore is, at the time of writing, seven winners behind Townend, who is a doubt for next week’s star-studded Punchestown Festival due to a foot injury.

But she can close the gap on her sidelined rival by justifying favouritism on three rides at Kilbeggan in Ireland today.

Blackmore’s first ride is on 10-11 favourite The Cathal Don at 4.25pm.

An hour later she gets the leg up on odds-on 1-2 favourite An Taibhse in the KilbegganRaces.com Maiden Hurdle at 5.25pm.

Both those are trained by Henry de Bromhead, the trainer with the golden touch.

He was behind Blackmore’s victory on Minella Times in the National, and also trained Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Minella Indo.

Next up for Blackmore is her ‘outsider’ of the day in Four Horsemen, a 15-4 shot at the time of writing in the 3m½f Mullingar Handicap Hurdle at 6.25pm.

Her final race before quickly travelling to Sandown for Saturday’s Bet365 Gold Cup is 11-8 chance Cavalry Master in the 7.55pm.

Odds on all four horses winning top just over 30-1, while backing the three favourites comes in at 6-1.

Blackmore will aim for more glory in the finale to British racing’s jump season tomorrow.

She gets the ride on current Gold Cup favourite Plan Of Attack.
