, Racing Stars and Fans Unite to Raise £30,000 for Injured Jockey Graham Lee

The horse racing community has come together to show their support for injured jockey Graham Lee by raising over £30,000 and counting. Lee, who famously won the Grand National in 2004, is currently in a critical condition in the hospital after a serious fall at Newcastle last Friday night.

Just Giving Page Surpasses £30,000

Lee's daughter, Amy, created a Just Giving page on Monday to raise funds for her father's recovery. The page has received an overwhelming response, with thousands of people posting, commenting, and sharing on social media. Racing stars and fans alike have answered the call, and the total amount raised surpassed £30,000 on Tuesday morning.

Support from Racing Stars and Fans

Many well-known figures in the racing world have made generous donations and left messages of support for Lee. Fellow jockeys Oisin Murphy, Rossa Ryan, and Saffie Osborne, as well as trainers, owners, racing chiefs, and fans, have all contributed to the cause.

Injured Jockey's Fund Provides Assistance

AP McCoy, the 20-time champion jockey and president of the Injured Jockey's Fund, expressed his devastation over Lee's injury. He assured everyone that the IJF would be there to support Lee and his family throughout his recovery and beyond. The fund will provide any necessary assistance to help Lee during this difficult time.

Lee's Injury and Career Highlights

Lee suffered an unstable cervical fracture and damage to the spinal cord during the fall at Newcastle. He is currently receiving intensive care at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. In addition to his Grand National victory, Lee achieved success as a Flat jockey, including winning the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the Nunthorpe Stakes.
