Kah is shattering records Down Under and is widely regarded as the best current jockey in the country

Punters know they are more than likely onto a winner if they back Kah

And she underlined her credentials on Saturday by steering powerhouse sprinter Nature Strip to victory in the Grade 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

Kah, 25, became the first female winner of the £420,000 contest, racking up a 21-win lead in this season’s Melbourne jockeys’ premiership in the process.

And it turned out to be a money-spinning victory for the rider too thanks to a three-timer on the day.

Her share of prize money from wins on Nature Strip, Quantum Mechanic and Zou Dancer netted her a cool £17,000 – not including her riding fee.

And it means Kah is closing in on the 1,000 win mark, with her treble taking her to 956 since her first ride in 2012.

She has also won a whopping £19.9m from her performances on the racecourse.

But the day was tinged with sadness because her parents John and Karen – both Olympic speed skaters – could not be there to watch her.

Kah said: “I wish mum and dad could be here.

“It would have been awesome. They had a table by the winning post and they would have been there cheering me on.”

Kah’s latest Group 1 win also means she is just one shy of Michelle Payne’s record.

She is on the brink of becoming the first woman to claim the Melbourne jockeys’ title.

And she has a great shot at breaking Brett Prebble’s record for the most wins in a season.

Kah has five months left to notch 40 victories and smash the mark of 99 and a half winners Prebble set in the 1999-2000 season.

Prebble – who says Kah is a ‘great rider’ and deserves to set the new record -got a half win for a dead-heat finish.
