FRANKIE DETTORI is odds-on to get revenge for his Oaks disappointment with Emily Upjohn in the Irish equivalent.
The legendary Italian jockey, 51, stumbled out the stalls in the Epsom blockbuster last month.
Dettori and Emily Upjohn are being backed to win the Irish Oaks
Emily Upjohn, a three-year-old filly, went down a short-head to the Aidan O’Brien-trained Tuesday.
That horse subsequently flopped in the Irish Derby as Westover – third in the Epsom Derby – thrashed the field.
Tuesday was left in the field for this Saturday’s Irish Oaks at the latest forfeit stage.
But even if she does run, the John and Thady Gosden-trained Emily Upjohn will be coming in much fresher having rested since Epsom.
Tuesday is the 4-1 joint-second favourite but Emily Upjohn, co-owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is the huge 1-2 favourite.
Dettori was confirmed as the rider for Emily Upjohn after his ‘sabbatical’ with the Gosdens ended after just 11 days.
The jockey came back with a bang at Newmarket last week when he won on Mighty Ulysses.
But he suffered a shocker on the previously unbeaten Inspiral in the Falmouth.
Sent off the giant 1-7 favourite, the Gosden runner finished second to 16-1 Prosperous Voyage.
This time, Gosden didn’t slam Dettori for the ride but was still flummoxed as to what went wrong.
He said: “I just thought she ran a little flat. The ground has quickened up and I’d agree with that, but I think it’s more the turnaround.
“Normally you wouldn’t go from a huge performance at Ascot to coming here, but having run once it made sense.
“You could tell early on that she was a little bit flat. We’ll freshen her up and away we go again, she seems happy enough.”
