PUNTERS will finally return to racecourses on Monday ahead of a stellar summer of racing.

Fans have been starved of live action for months on end bar a brief respite before Christmas.

It’s expected that 10,000 will be welcomed each day at Royal Ascot this summer
Last year’s meeting was held in front of an empty grandstand

The likes of Windsor, Carlisle and Leicester will be the first to host paying customers this coming Monday, with tickets still available.

But some of the hottest tickets around have already sold out.

Up to 4000 punters will head to Epsom for the Oaks and Derby on June 4 and 5.

Those tickets sold out immediately via a ballot and only hospitality remains.

Later that month, 15-19 June, Royal Ascot is in line to up the ante with crowds of 10,000 expected each day.

Tickets are yet to go on sale as the course finalises plans, but you can bet they will go like hot cakes.

The following week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson intends to end social distancing requirements.

This paves the way for sellout crowds at the likes of Glorious Goodwood, the Coral Eclipse at Sandown and the Ebor Festival at York.

The latest official announcement from Ascot, read: “Detailed planning is underway and we will update on plans for Royal Ascot soon.

“We welcome the BHA’s announcement in tandem that owners will be able to access the parade ring from 17th May and will update on the specifics for Royal Ascot in due course.”
