Ryan Moore travels 10,700 miles in mad rush to the Curragh

Ryan Moore, the jockey who recently won the St Leger, is set to embark on a frantic journey across the world to make it to the Curragh for four races on Sunday. After racing in Sydney on Saturday, Moore will face a race against the clock to arrive in time for his first race at the Curragh.

Making the journey from Sydney to Dublin

Moore's main ride will be on Coolmore's Shinzo in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes at Rosehill racecourse at 7am UK time. Despite the long journey, Moore will also be riding Mr Waterville, the former Irish Cesarewitch winner, and will have to quickly adapt to the new horses.

Air travel logistics

According to Sky Scanner, Moore can catch a 9.10pm flight from Sydney on Saturday night. After a layover in Dubai, he will then take a 7.20am flight to Dublin, arriving at 12.15pm. The journey from the airport to the Curragh will then take around 50 minutes.

Will he make it on time?

Moore is booked to ride Gasper De Lemos in the 1.50pm contest on Sunday, but it will be tight whether he arrives in time. If he misses the ride, his next race will be in the contest after at 2.25pm.

The races he'll be riding in

After Gasper De Lemos, Moore is scheduled to ride Content in the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes. He will then hop on Aesop's Fables for another Group 3 race, followed by a big race where he hopes to win the Irish Cesarewitch on Tower Of London, a possible Melbourne Cup hopeful.

Upcoming races and destinations

After his races at the Curragh, Moore will have a couple of days off before heading to Goodwood for two rides on Wednesday. Then, it's off to Newmarket on Thursday before another flight to Paris for the Arc on Sunday, where he is expected to ride Continuous once again.
