, Saffie Osborne, 19, steals the show at Lingfield as she leads Team Swish to top of the £2million Racing League standings

SAFFIE OSBORNE survived a dramatic stewards’ enquiry to stamp her authority at the top of the Racing League.

Osborne, 19, and her Team Swish are looking down on the rest after three weeks of the blockbuster £2million series.

And Saffie, daughter of jockey-turned-trainer Jamie, will have her eyes on a huge £25,000 bonus as top jockey.

She is only half-way there at the moment but there is no denying the stars are aligning after she showed tremendous tenacity to overcome death threats and awful injuries to lead the way.

There was also a change to the jockeys’ 18-race limit in the League, meaning Osborne – and others – can ride more than the 18 previously deemed maximum.

She needed no luck whatsoever in her brilliant win on 9-1 Menai Bridge in the 1m2f contest at Lingfield.

Osborne cruised into contention on the Charles Hill-trained three-year-old, pipping Oslo at the post.

The first of the six £50,000 contests went to Pat Cosgrave who prevailed on 13-2 Marks Bear by just a neck from Hayley Turner on 16-1 Kool Moe Dee.

The trailblazing female jockey got revenge in the next though with victory on 9-2 Typhoon Ten.

Adam Kirby picked up a win on his Racing League debut with 7-2 The Attorney before Louis Steward won on 8-1 Billhilly.

Osborne then won on Menai Bridge before Jack Mitchell rounded the night off with victory on 6-4 favourite Lydford for Team talkSPORT.
