Second female jockey makes complaint to BHA over treatment by male colleague in weighing room

A second female jockey has made an official complaint to the BHA after an alleged safeguarding issue in the weighing room.

It comes less than a week after the Bryony Frost allegations surfaced towards rider Robbie Dunne.

Jockeys have defended the culture in the weighing room

The Times reported the latest incident but could not name the parties due to the nature of the incident.

Since the 120 page leaked report emerged on Sunday, jockeys have defended the culture of the weighing room despite the claims.

Frost alleged there was a widespread culture of bullying and intimidation but the majority of current jockeys have met the allegations with a wall of silence.

The revelations, if proven remotely accurate, surely shows it’s time for a detailed review into the treatment of female riders, as well as the overall working conditions.

The BHA refused to comment on the new allegations but has previously confirmed the Frost case is nearing a conclusion.

SE understands an opening hearing, due to start this week, was delayed due to the leaked report.

Frost, in her evidence in interviews with the BHA, alleged that Dunne called her a ‘wh**e’ and a ‘c***’ during a heated exchange after a race.

The 26-year-old also complained that Dunne would stand in front of her naked in the weighing room and threatened her with violence.

Dunne, who denies almost all the allegations, faces charges of ‘conduct prejudicial to the integrity or good reputation’ of the sport.

Dunne refused to comment on the allegations when they surfaced but his lawyer Daryl Cowan has since stated he believes the BHA has lost ‘control of the case.’

He added: “Under the BHA’s judicial panels’ code, the case papers are, or supposed to be, strictly confidential.”
