Sir Alex Ferguson Celebrates ‘Best Ever’ Sporting Achievement with Horse Racing Win

Spirit Dancer Lands Impressive Victory in Bahrain

Sir Alex Ferguson, former manager of Manchester United, is celebrating what he calls his "best ever" sporting achievement after his horse, Spirit Dancer, won the Bahrain International Trophy and secured a £500,000 prize. The six-year-old horse, bred by Sir Alex himself, produced a stunning run from the back of the pack to claim victory in the race.

Sir Alex Overwhelmed by Success

After witnessing his 14-1 outsider defeat the competition, Sir Alex Ferguson expressed his disbelief and joy, stating, "It was fantastic. I can't believe it." He also praised trainer Richard Fahey and jockey Oisin Orr for their contributions to Spirit Dancer's victory.

Impressive Performance by Spirit Dancer

Spirit Dancer, sporting the iconic red colors of Manchester United, delivered a remarkable performance in the Bahrain International Trophy. Despite being a longshot, the horse surged past the competition after rounding the home bend and proved unbeatable in the straight. The win in this Group 2 contest added a substantial amount to Spirit Dancer's career earnings, which now total nearly £750,000.

Big Payday for Sir Alex

Sir Alex Ferguson, along with co-owners Ged Mason and Fred Done, will share in the £500,000 prize money from Spirit Dancer's victory. This significant payday marks one of the highlights of the Flat racing calendar and further solidifies Sir Alex's success as a racehorse owner and breeder.

Potential for More Success

Sir Alex Ferguson's racing success may continue later this month with his horse Proktektorat, who is the favorite to win the Betfair Chase at Haydock. If the eight-year-old defends his title, the win will be worth just under £113,000.
