SIR Alex Ferguson is hoping to cheer home another winner on the racecourse this afternoon.

His Red Power is the hot favourite for the 1.13 up at Ayr after an encouraging debut last month.

Fergie is a regular at the races and was at Aintree to see three of his stars win on the same day

The horse can be backed at 13-8 and the Manchester United legend will be hoping his horse runs better than Mr McCann did yesterday.

Mr McCann who cost £65,000 finished third at Leicester and is owned by Liverpool and Brighton players Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Adam Lallana, Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Funnily both horses are trained by Tom Dascombe who is backed by former United and Liverpool legend Michael Owen.

Red Power, Fergie’s latest youngster, cost £120,000 and was fourth on his debut at York.

And trainer Dascombe revealed recently that the two horses had galloped against each other at home.

However Dascombe kept his cards close to his chest when asked who came out on top.

Red Power is a short-price to come out on top at Ayr after his encouraging start and will be partnered by jockey Alistair Rawlinson.

He faces seven rivals in the Novice race over six furlongs for which the winner takes home just shy of £3,000.

That might seem like peanuts but it’s early days for this horse and impressive win may see Red Power book a ticket to Royal Ascot later this month.

Fergie has already enjoyed plenty of success with his nags this year after three of his stars triumphed on the opening day of the Grand National Festival at Aintree.

Clan Des Obeaux, Protektorat and Monmiral all won to land an incredible 108-1 treble on Merseyside.

Our in-form tipster Templegate has tipped Red Power to score at Ayr. Our man said: “Good start at York latest and much more to come.”
