Sir Alex Ferguson Teams Up with Paul Nicholls for Cheltenham Assault

Legendary Football Manager Takes on Jumps Racing

Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former manager of Manchester United, is set to make his mark on the world of jumps racing as he launches a fresh assault on some of the sport's biggest prizes at Cheltenham this Friday. And he's not doing it alone – he's teamed up with old ally Paul Nicholls, the 14-time champion trainer.

A Familiar Partnership

This isn't the first time Sir Alex and Nicholls have joined forces, and their previous collaborations have yielded great success. Now, they're hoping to continue their winning streak in 2023.

Isaac Des Obeaux: The Horse to Watch

One of the stars of the show will be Isaac Des Obeaux, a horse co-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson. The talented hurdler will be competing in a 2m4f Class 2 hurdle race with a prize fund of over £10,000 for the winner. Isaac Des Obeaux's high-profile owners and his close relation to the impressive Clan Des Obeaux make him a horse to watch.

Promising Potential

Although Isaac Des Obeaux has yet to reach the heights of his famous relative, trainer Paul Nicholls believes in his potential. After a slow start following his debut win last November, the horse has undergone a wind operation in the summer and is now ready to start over hurdles. Nicholls is optimistic about Isaac Des Obeaux's progress.

A Hugely Encouraging Start

This Cheltenham assault comes at a poignant time for Sir Alex Ferguson, who recently lost his wife Cathy. If both Isaac Des Obeaux and Protektorat, another horse owned by Sir Alex, deliver strong performances, it will be a hugely encouraging start to the jumps season for the football legend.
