Templegate’s Top Cheltenham Festival Contenders: 10-1 and 8-1 Ante-Post Eyecatchers

As the Cheltenham Festival draws nearer, we witnessed some outstanding performances during a busy festive period on both sides of the Irish Sea.

CRAMBO (Stayers’ Hurdle)

Fergal O’Brien has a genuine Stayers’ Hurdle contender in Crambo, who showcased his fighting spirit with a Long Walk victory.

This promising young horse thrived over the extended trip of 3 miles and has the potential to improve even further. At odds of 10-1, he offers excellent each-way value at the Festival.

STORM HEART (Triumph Hurdle)

Even Willie Mullins was taken aback by the impressive debut of five-year-old Storm Heart on New Year’s Eve.

This horse displayed class and composure, making him a serious contender for the Triumph Hurdle. At 8-1, he is definitely worth considering.

DINOBLUE (Mares’ Chase)

Despite an impressive victory at Leopardstown, it would be wise for connections to resist the temptation of entering DinoBlue in the Champion Chase.

Her previous second-place finish in the Grand Annual suggests that she is better suited for that race or the Mares’ Chase.

CALDWELL POTTER (Ballymore Hurdle)

With a commanding seven-length victory in a Leopardstown Grade 1, Caldwell Potter appears to be the perfect fit for the 2m4f trip of the Ballymore Hurdle.

This horse excelled over the distance and seems more suited to the Ballymore than the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS (Gold Cup)

It goes without saying that the reigning Gold Cup champion is a top contender. Galopin des Champs secured an important victory in the Savills Chase.

Not only did he defeat some of his main rivals, but he did so in impressive fashion, showing that his previous defeats at Punchestown were merely a blip.

Although Shishkin, who slipped in the King George, has a shot at 12-1, it's hard to find fault with Galopin des Champs.
