The Sun horseracing tipster Templegate lands another winner that drifted to whopping 879-1 in-running at Ayr

SUNSPORT tipster Templegate was celebrating another winner today – despite it drifting to a whopping 879-1 in-running.

Strong Economy absolutely stormed home in the 1.55 at Ayr.

Strong Economy hit huge odds in-running but crossed the line in first… just

The 9-2 shot before the off was out of view as the leading duo jumped the last fence in what appeared to be a two-horse finale.

But Derek Fox coaxed an absolutely remarkable late surge of speed from the nine-year-old at the end of a gruelling three miles and three furlongs over heavy going.

Steve Mullen, Templegate to you and me, tipped up Strong Economy in his daily column.

That was at odds of 9-2.

But punters can bet in-running on horses on Betfair and the runner was matched at odds of 879-1, meaning someone enjoyed a mega payout.

Explaining his pick, Steve said: “He loves Ayr and I thought this race would be ideal for him.

“But he was struggling a bit early on and not jumping well so I feared the worst. He was nowhere to be seen turning for home so I thought that was that.

“They jumped the last and there was still no sign before he suddenly appeared on the scene looking like he’d just started the race.

“In the end it was never in doubt!

“He hit massive odds in-running so someone had a nice little return.”

One fan impressed with the ride said: “Derek Fox has just produced probably the ride of the year over at Ayr aboard Strong Economy.”

And the bookie bashing did not stop there for our man, with Ardera Cross also obliging in the 2.30 at Ayr.

Ryan Mania won on the William Young Jr-trained horse, backed into 8-1 from 16-1.
