Three Lucky Punters Walk Away with £54,000 from William Hill

Shrewd Bets Pay Off

Three punters left William Hill traders reeling after winning a combined total of £54,000 with their "astonishing" series of bets. Despite there being only three meetings in Britain on the day, these savvy bettors took full advantage of the action at Lingfield and Ludlow.

Biggest Win of the Day

The first punter walked away with the largest sum, pocketing an impressive £20,295.80 from a mere £1 bet. Their win came from a Lucky 31 bet, where they correctly predicted the outcomes of five races. They hit the jackpot when Henry Daly-trained Miltiades won the Class 5 2m4f handicap chase at Ludlow.

A Double Celebration

Incredibly, another bettor was also celebrating at the same time, winning £19,151.52 from a tiny 50p stake. Their win was also reliant on Miltiades' victory. Both winners earned more than the £15,000 prize money that horse and jockey Richard Patrick received for winning the race.

Impressive Accumulator Bets

The winning bets included additional horses from Lingfield and Ludlow. The first punter's bet featured six other horses and had a stake of 25p each way. The horses, including The Bitter Moose, Completed, Oh So Grand, Mistress Light, Darlo Pride, and Kimberley Eve, all triumphed, leading to a mega payout. The second punter's £9.50 bet also included Oh So Grand, Intervention, Mistress Light, Darlo Pride, and Dutch Kingdom, resulting in a Christmas windfall of £13,745.31.

A Costly Day for William Hill

Lee Phelps, a spokesperson for William Hill, admitted that the bookie sustained significant losses due to these winning bets. He called the wins of £20,000 and £14,000 "fantastic results" from small investments and described the seven-fold win as "one of the best bets we've seen in 2023."
