Driving offense
40-year-old jockey Hayley Turner has been fined for using her phone while driving. The offense occurred in January in Newmarket, where Turner was driving a BMW.
Escaping a ban
Despite already having six points on her license, Turner pleaded guilty to the offense and was fined £100 instead of receiving additional penalty points or a driving ban.
Losing employment
Turner, who was awarded an OBE in 2016, expressed concern that a driving ban would lead to a loss of employment and hinder her ability to pay her mortgage.
Addtional fines
In addition to the fine, Turner was also ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £110 in costs.
Stalker ordeal
Turner recently shared her ordeal of receiving drugs from a stalker who was in prison. She was forced to report the harassment to the police after her nan was threatened as well.
Impressive career
With 968 career wins and over £9.5 million in prize money, Turner has established herself as a successful jockey. She has achieved 24 wins at Group and Listed level, including notable victories in the 2011 July Cup and Nunthorpe Stakes.
