Trueshan far from certain to take on Stradivarius at York with Alan King keeping close eye on weather forecast

TRAINER Alan King has warned punters that Trueshan could miss next week’s Ebor Festival at York.

The mud-lover romped home in the Goodwood Cup under Hollie Doyle after Stradivarius was pulled out on the morning of the Group 1.

Superstar jockey Hollie Doyle is Trueshan’s regular partner

Both staying stars are entered in the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup on Friday week, but with the pair wanting different conditions, punters might never see the two big guns clash.

King said: “We will confirm him when the time comes but we can’t make a call yet, a lot will depend on the ground.

“I know lots of people want to see us up against Stradivarius but I can’t promise anything as it’s always been the two of them supposedly wanting different conditions sadly.

“We haven’t done a lot with him since Goodwood, he’s due to do his first proper piece of work today/Wednesday but he’s been grand since.”

If Trueshan is forced into skipping York he already has the perfect race in mind with a trip to France on the cards.

King added: “We have him in the Prix Du Cadran on Arc weekend in France – that and the Long Distance Cup at Ascot are his autumn targets.”

Meanwhile crack juvenile and Richmond Stakes winner Asymmetric will also be heading across the channel and not to York.

The Group 2 winner is currently as short as 5-1 for the Gimcrack but King has another target lined up.

He added: “Asymmetric is in the Prix Morny on the 22nd over in France and that’s where we headed.

“He’s won a Group 2 already and we’d have to carry a penalty at York. I’d like the ground to dry up a bit though first, it looked a bit damp there over the weekend.”
