TYSON FURY is backing his namesake King Fury in the Kentucky Derby to the tune of $2,000 and is heading to Churchill Downs to support him in person.

The 33-1 outsider for Saturday’s big race was named after Fury following his victory over Deontay Wilder last year.

And now, having finally caught the boxer’s attention, he’ll be supported in person by the heavyweight champ.

Fury, who was training in Las Vegas, is set to make the trip to Louisville after seeing the tweets from trainer Kenny McPeek.

McPeek sent him an invite on the back of the Kentucky Derby tagging him from their official account.

McPeek said: “Come to town Big Guy, we’ve got your VIP tickets. It will be a Blast. I train the colt. Las Vegas to Louisville direct flight. Serious, DM me.”

He then replied to his tweet saying the ‘wheels were in motion’.

And now Fury has confirmed he’s heading to watch and wants to lead the horse out.

He said: “It’s always something I’ve been interested in, the biggest horse race in the world.

“I’ve always wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby, never had the opportunity to do so. This is the opportunity to do so.

“I’m really looking forward to going down there and meeting King Fury and getting a win because we only do winning, we don’t do losing here at Gypsy King Headquarters.

“I hope it’s a big colt. I will see him Saturday. Looking forward to going down there.”

According to ESPN Fury plans to arrive in Louisville on Saturday after a training day on Friday and wants to explore the city Muhammad Ali grew up in.

Fury will then take up the offer to walk King Fury to the paddock – as well placing a $2,000 bet on him.

He added: “I’m going to walk the horse out, of course I am.

“How badass would it be, you own a horse and the Gypsy King, Tyson Fury, the undefeated, undisputed lineal champion is walking your horse into the arena.”

Tyson Fury became a two-time heavyweight champion against Deontay Wilder

McPeek took inspiration from Fury’s incredible win over Wilder in their second fight.

Fury became a two-time world champion when he secured the 7th round TKO victory at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas last February.

McPeek said: “That was such a great fight and so fun to watch, and he seems like a really fun guy.

“The other thing is when you name colts, especially really well-bred, expensive colts, you want to name them with a strong name.”

King Fury won last time out in the Stonestreet Lexington Stakes at Keeneland and has two wins at Churchill Downs already going into this weekend.

Some bookies are already shortening his odds for this week and the interest is set to rise with Fury’s attendance.
