Watch horse ‘going nowhere’ blitz through rivals to win ‘remarkable’ debut race by just 0.02 lengths in photo finish

THIS is the incredible moment a horse ‘going nowhere’ showed an electrifying burst of speed to record a seemingly impossible victory.

Cameras at Canberra racecourse in Australia had all but forgotten about debutant Galactic Warrior during a race on Sunday.

Galactic Warrior seemed to have no chance of winning as the post appeared
The horse surged through his rivals to win by just 0.02 lengths

Struggling out the back and with apparently no chance of winning, the horse almost went out of shot during coverage as the leaders hurtled towards the line.

But to the amazement of viewers the three-year-old found a jaw-dropping turn of foot from somewhere to blitz past his rivals.

Jockey Scott Guymer could be seen working on his mount, asking him for more as the line approached.

And with around 250m of the race to go, Galactic Warrior – at this point still miles out of it – finally got to work.

Yet with just 150m to the post it still looked like too little too late – and there were seven horses still in front of him.

Those near the rail tired but front-runner Jobseeker looked steady with the line in sight.

Galactic Warrior was having none of it though and hit top gear in the final stride to pinch victory from the jaws of defeat in a thrilling photo finish.

The official margin of victory was just 0.02 lengths.

Commentator Anthony Manton, who memorably appeared on reality show Married at First Sight Australia, said: “As big a win as I’ve seen in a country maiden, Galactic Warrior has come from last at the 200m and going nowhere, jumped out the ground to win.”

A fellow viewer said simply: “Unreal.”

And one comment read: “Galactic Warrior wow.”

While another fan joked: “Never in doubt.”

The astonishing victory comes three weeks after a horse winless in more than three years bolted up from last to win in France.
