‘Watch this space’ – Frankie Dettori refuses to rule out riding Torquator Tasso in the Arc de Triomphe

I AM going fishing for the Ebor.

The net will have to be a big one though as, with 22 runners, it’s a tough race to land.

Frankie has a massive book of rides coming up and tells Sun Racing about them all below

Torquator Tasso was a shock 80-1 winner of the Arc in 2021

I ride TRAWLERMAN (3.35) who seemed very well when I sat on him at John’s yesterday.

He’s a horse who likes to race with lots of enthusiasm, so hopefully he settles well and puts in a performance like he did at Goodwood.

He needs to step up again to win a race like this, but he’s still improving and he arrives here in great form.

We’re drawn wide in stall 20, but you have time to sort yourself out over the mile and six at York so we should be okay.

It’s been a decade since I won the Ebor for my good pal Saeed bin Suroor with Willing Foe so it’s about time I did it again.

My first ride of the day, MIGHTY ULYSSES (1.50) has an obvious chance in the Strensall Stakes and looks a worthy favourite.

The extra furlong should suit and the ground looks spot on for him, so I can’t see any negatives there.

We were forced a little bit into taking a lead at Newmarket, but you can drop him in and get cover if the pace is strong, too.

Charlie Appleby’s horses are in great form and, although William Buick had the pick, AL NAFIR (2.25) looks a nice ride in the Melrose.

He could still be anything, having raced just once this season after a long lay-off.

He’s going up half a mile too so there’s every chance he could take a big step forward.

KINROSS (3.00) ran a cracker at Goodwood last time and should put up another bold bid.

He would prefer it softer but after a week of sun on the Knavesmire — as we saw yesterday — the ground is only getting quicker.

This seven furlongs is his ideal trip and he arrives in good form so we’ll give it a go.

I’m back on MUMS TIPPLE (4.10) and she’s got to contend with a bit of a hike in the weights but, when these sprinters get high on confidence, they often back up a win.

My last ride is SPECIAL ENVOY (5.20) and I liked the way he won at Windsor last time out. He should go well again.

My weekend gets even better as I’m really excited about riding VERRY ELLEEGANT in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville tomorrow.

As you know, I’ve not won a Melbourne Cup, so it will be nice to ride a horse who has!

She’s a champion in Australia, and, though running on the other side of the world will be a whole new experience for her, she’s obviously a very good mare and it’s an honour to ride her.

I’m also delighted to have a go on Arc winner TORQUATOR TASSO in his next race at Baden-Baden on September 4.

I’m not sure if I will be on him come the big one on October 2 though. You’ll just have to watch this space!
