Wetherby set for Charlie Hall cracker as La Bague Au Roi and Vinndication head possible field of 12

THE first big staying chase of the season could be a thriller as 12 high-class operators were confirmed for Saturday’s Charlie Hall.

La Bague Au Roiwill bid to make a successful reappearance following her fine first season over fences last term.

La Bague Au Roi (left) was a game winner at Kempton in last year’s Kauto Star Novices’ Chase

A winner of three of her four starts over the larger obstacles, Warren Greatrex’s mare demonstrated she’s one of the most exciting prospects around – and her trainer reckons he’s got her right where he wants her.

He said: “She’s come back looking fantastic.

“I couldn’t be happier with her. She’s stronger now and when we schooled her last week she was breathtaking.

“As a jumper, you don’t get any better. She’s so quick and accurate.

“I couldn’t be any happier with her and I can’t wait for Saturday.”

Among those taking her on in Saturday’s Grade 2 could beVinndication.

Kim Bailey’s unexposed chaser didn’t have a fantastic campaign last year but he’s had plenty of time off and retains a huge amount of potential.

Top Ville Ben,2-2 at Wetherby over fences, has also been entered, as has last year’s Ryanair runner-upAso.

Definitly Redcould bid to land the race of a second year running, while Paul Nicholls’Black Cortonis Ditcheat’s only representative.
