Wild scenes at the races as 85,000 punters go wild celebrating the Melbourne Cup

CHAOS erupted at the races as 85,000 punters went wild celebrating the Melbourne Cup.

Racegoers flocked to Flemington racecourse in Australia to witness the thrilling victory of 7-1 favorite Without A Fight and jockey Mark Zahra's consecutive wins in the nation's most prestigious race.

Drunken antics and hilarious falls

The celebrations took a boozy turn after the final race, with partygoers showing the effects of a day filled with drinking and betting.

One woman, while still holding onto her drink, fell backwards off her seat and crashed to the ground, leaving her friends in stitches. Another man narrowly avoided a pile of cans as he tumbled off his chair. It was a scene filled with laughter and chaos.

Heels off and dancing

As a live band played, some racegoers kicked off their heels and danced the night away, while police tried to maintain some semblance of order.

A messy aftermath

After Derby Day last weekend, racegoers left behind a trail of drinks and litter. It seems like history repeated itself as the wild celebrations continued after Without A Fight shocked the crowd by beating the favorite Vauban and claiming the £2.5 million prize.
