York Ebor Handicap runners: Templegate tipping guide to EVERY horse in £500,000 blockbuster

, York Ebor Handicap runners: Templegate tipping guide to EVERY horse in £500,000 blockbuster

HAVE a crafty bet in the Sky Bet Ebor.

TRIBAL CRAFT chased home the classy Wonderful Tonight in a hot contest at Glorious Goodwood last time. She sees out this trip well and looks on a fair handicap mark for red-hot Andrew Balding.

Balding sits pretty at the top of the trainer championship

Hamish is coming back from a long break but has two wins over this course and distance. He goes on any ground and William Haggas will have done lots of homework.

Johnny Murtagh has two good chances with Sonnyboyliston and Mirann who have both been laid out for this.

Humanitarian and Shanroe are others who can go close in a typically hot contest.

EUCHEN GLEN 2

GLEN when. Has been running over shorter but was good fifth in this last year. Is 14lb higher in the weights now and has had a busy season already. Reliable but lumping so much lead looks tough.

FUJAIRA PRINCE 3

PRINCE may reign. Battled well to take this 12 months ago and came back with a good third in the Silver Cup here last month. Has gone up 6lb since his victory, which will make life tough, but looks a live each-way contender.

ILARAAB 3

IL looks well. Has won well on both runs here including over 1m4f in May. Had a rough race when down the field at Royal Ascot and has been kept fresh for this. He’s gone up the weights but is improving and William Haggas runners are always respected.

AWAY HE GOES 3

AWAY day. Solid fifth in the Silver Cup here last month before a cracking second in the Goodwood Cup last time. Is 16lb higher than last handicap win but is another with place claims.

EAGLES BY DAY 2

EAGLES must fly. Won the Group 3 Silver Cup here last season over this trip but has been out of sorts since. Well beaten on comeback at Goodwood and needs to find his best form.

HAMISH 4

HOTSHOT Hamish. Landed two big handicap wins over course and distance in 2019 but has been off the track since last year’s Royal Ascot. We know he loves it here and has plenty of class from what could be a low mark. Massive threat if fit enough.

Haggas should go close with hotshot Hamish in the Ebor

ALOUNAK 3

NICK Nak. Won Haydock’s Old Newton Cup over 1m4f before a solid effort in a Goodwood Group 3. Shapes like a stayer and yard is in flying form and could have more to offer.

MEKONG 1

NO from Me. Hasn’t won for almost three years and has shown little this season. Would be a surprise winner.

BLUE CUP 2

FEELING Blue. Goes beyond 1m2f for the first time here and doesn’t look certain to get this longer trip. Was an impressive winner at Epsom on his last handicap start but stamina is an unknown.

SONNYBOYLISTON 4

GOOD Boy. Johnny Murtagh is doing well with his UK raiders and he didn’t get the run of the race here in last month’s Silver Cup. He stays well, is potentially well handicapped and has been a big ante-post gamble.

ROBERTO ESCOBARR 3

BARR bill. Listed winner over course and distance in June before a modest effort in the Silver Cup here last time. Has few miles on the clock so could improve but shapes like even further would suit.

MAX VEGA 1

LAST Vega. Hasn’t won since his two-year-old season and didn’t show much here last time after nine months off. Needs huge personal best.

PABLO ESCOBARR 2

BARR-ed. Was 11th in this last season but has been in fair nick this year without winning. 5lb claiming jockey helps but he must raise his game.

HUMANITARIAN 4

HUM sounds good. Has has just six starts and battled well to win when last seen in September. Step up to this trip should help and Team Gosden can get one fit at home. Looks well weighted and right in the mix.

MT LEINSTER 3

STER crazy. Willie Mullins runners are always interesting and he ended last season with two easy wins in lesser contests. He stays well and is proven in a big field. Chance off what looks a fair mark.

GLOBAL STORM 3

STORM force. Consistent handicapper over this trip who went close again in good company at Newmarket latest. Goes on any ground and should have more improvement in him.

TRIBAL CRAFT 5

AIR Craft. Clocked big personal best when a good second to Wonderful Tonight at Goodwood last time. Won a Group 3 over course and distance in May and Andrew Balding’s horses are flying. She looks a major player.

ON TO VICTORY 3

ON it. Won last year’s November Handicap at Donny so has class but, despite being a hurdler, he didn’t seem to stay this far in the mud at Goodwood latest. On fair weight if getting home.

MIRANN 4

MIR we go. Another from in-form Johnny Murtagh and he as a good fourth in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot before a solid Leopardstown run. On fair weight and stays well. One to consider.

QUICKTHORN 2

NOT Quick. Started this season with two good 1m4f wins but may not have stayed when beaten over course and distance last time. It’s early days so he could bounce back but needs more.

MAKAWEE 1

SACK Mak. Modest form in Group and Listed races this season so has dropped to just 1lb above last win. Stays well but has poor strike-rate.

SHANROE 4

SHAN-tastic. Decent hurdler who came back to form on the Flat when scoring well over in The Curragh’s trial for this race last time. A 7lb rise from that seems fair and it would be no shock to see him go close.
