THE million pound Ebor may be no more thanks to you know what, but that hasn’t stopped trainers taking centre aim at York’s big handicap.
A full field of 22 have been declared for Saturday’s feature, with Roger Varian’s progressive Fujaira Prince continuing to sit pretty at the top of the betting.
Only a handicap in name these days, the lowest rated horse to sneak in is the 97-rated Hochfeld, a winner last time out.
Top weight will be lumbered by Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Deja – a 14-1 shot set to run for Phoenix Thoroughbreds, despite promising they would be leaving the sport with immediate effect.
Favourites have a terrible record in this race, and challenging Fujaira Prince for the poison chalice are Pablo Escobarr and Trueshan.
Willie Mullins has called upon Jason Watson to partner True Self, while Jamie Spencer gets the leg up on Joseph O’Brien’s Pondus. Both have big chances.
