Young gun trainer George Boughey hoping to cheer on first Group race winner in France but will have to do so from sofa

GEORGE BOUGHEY is hoping to break his Group race duck at Deauville this afternoon – but sadly he’ll be cheering them on from the sofa.

The Newmarket handler sends three horses to France led by Oaks runner-up Mystery Angel.

Mystery Angel finished second to Snowfall in the Oaks at Epsom

Boughey, 29, has trained over 50 winners this year already but is after his first Group race success before the summer is up.

He said: “I can’t go over as I’ve only had one jab and I’d need to quarantine so I’ll be cheering them on from home.

“I can’t quite justify having to quarantine at this busy time of the year.

“Things are going really well as a team, but a Group race winner would cap it off and they all go to France with great chances I’d say.”

Mystery Angel will be partnered by James Doyle and drops in class to take on eight rivals in the Group 3 Prix de Psyche.

Boughey added: “She has to be one of the fancied ones. She’s a Listed winner and has run in the Oaks and a Group 2 since.

“And I think having her back at ten furlongs is probably a plus too. She’s been our flag bearer so if she were to do it then even better.”

Boughey also has two darts to fire at the Group 3 Prix Six Perfections with Oscula and Hellomydarlin. Ryan Moore is booked on Oscula and Hellomydarlin will be ridden by PJ McDonald.

Their trainer said: “They’re rated 98 and 100 so again they have to have a big chance between them.

“Ryan has ridden for us a couple of times before but it’s great to have him, the ground should be better for Oscula, it was too quick at Newmarket.

“Going up in trip for Hellomydarlin has been on the cards and she has a solid chance, she’s a lovely big filly.”
