Zoe Davison dead: Horse racing trainer passes away after long battle with cancer on day she lands two Plumpton winners

TRAINER Zoe Davison has died aged 60 after a long battle with terminal breast cancer.

Davison continued to train until the end and even sent out a poignant double to win at Plumpton this afternoon.

Davison’s stable was based in Sussex close to Plumpton

Davison has suffered from breast cancer for the past four-and-a-half years, but her daughter recently revealed it had spread.

Assistant trainer and daughter Gemma – a former jockey – said that the family were taking it day-by-day.

And just two hours after the second leg of an emotional double at Plumpton she passed away in hospital.

Brown Bullet was the first to win under an emotional James Best before Mr Jack won later on the card.

Daughter Gemma revealed the sad news at the end of December that the cancer had spread.

She said: “Thank you, to each and every one of you, that have sent well wishes.

“Unfortunately mum (Zoe) is suffering from secondary breast cancer.

“She has put up an incredible fight for four-and-a-half years, sadly the cancer has spread in her body.

“Zoe wanted to hold out for Christmas and has done so.

“We’re now taking each day as it comes.”
