Andy Murray Plans to Build ‘Wellness Cottage’ at Hotel

Andy Murray, the double Wimbledon champion, has submitted plans to build a 'wellness cottage' in the grounds of his five-star hotel, Cromlix House Hotel. The hotel, which is located just outside Murray's hometown of Dunblane, was purchased by Murray and his wife Kim in 2013 for almost £2 million. Since then, the hotel has received a number of hospitality industry awards and has recently been taken over by Murray and his wife. The planning application for the 'wellness cottage' includes a reception area, treatment room, and shower facilities. The local authority is expected to make a decision on the application next month.

Plans for the 'Wellness Cottage'

The planning application submitted by Andy and Kim Murray includes plans for a 'wellness cottage' in the woodland surrounding Cromlix House Hotel. The building will be transformed into a spa facility, offering a range of therapy treatments for guests. The plans also include external improvements such as new windows, roof repairs, and render repairs. The internal spaces will be fully designed to provide a reception and treatment room, in line with the recent internal refurbishment of the hotel.

Battle with Wildlife Campaigners

Last month, Murray won a battle with wildlife campaigners over his plans to build luxury woodland cabins in the hotel grounds. The Scottish Wildlife Trust had opposed the planning application, citing concerns about the impact it would have on breeding birds and amphibians. However, Murray's proposal to erect nine chalets was ultimately given the green light.

Renovation and Wedding Reception

Cromlix House Hotel underwent a refurbishment programme overseen by Kim Murray and reopened in March. The hotel, which offers 15 rooms and has been awarded five stars, has become a popular destination for guests. In addition to its luxurious accommodations, the hotel also offers spa treatments and is now planning to expand its wellness facilities with the addition of the 'wellness cottage'. The hotel holds special significance for Andy Murray, as he held his wedding reception there in 2015 after marrying Kim in Dunblane cathedral.
