It has now emerged that Aussie authorities are probing the Serb’s arrival declaration that he had spent the 14 days before landing at Melbourne in Belgrade.

Djokovic’s own social media postings showed him in Spain during that time and at gatherings in the Serbian capital on the two days AFTER he had allegedly tested positive on December 16.

Murray said: “It’s a positive that he’s not in detention any more. He won in court so that’s a positive thing for him.

“But there are still a few questions that need to be answered about the isolation and stuff, which I’m sure we’ll hear from him in the next few days.”

Three-time Grand Slam winner and former world No1 Murray was speaking after his 6-3 6-1 win over Norway’s Viktor Durasovic in the first round of the Sydney Tennis Classic.

The Aussie Open starts on Monday and Murray added: “We do want the best players there but I think there are a few questions to be answered.

“It’s up to the press to ask about that and for Novak to clarify. Let’s wait to see what he says.”

But Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics, 29, slammed the world No1.

He said: “People’s health is paramount.

“There are rules that were outlined months ago, namely everyone should vaccinate themselves — and Djokovic didn’t.”

Analysis of Djokovic’s test certificates by a German magazine suggested his positive sample was actually dated December 26 — ten days later than previously claimed.

That would have meant he travelled to Australia inside the 14-day Covid window in which entry to the country after infection remains banned.
