But then suddenly, the camera cut to the locker room at the Skiing World Cup, currently held in Austria.

Fans on Twitter were not happy, to say the least, and hit out at Eurosport for their questionable coverage.

One said: “At 5-5 in the deciding set of a brilliant match between Osaka and Anisimova, Eurosport cut away to… the locker room at the Skiing World Cup.”

Another added: “Not Eurosport leaving Osaka’s match at 5-5 in the 3rd. Shambles.”

One tweeted: “Eurosport 2 cutting away from the Naomi Osaka match at 5-5 in the third set to go to skiing (and moving Osaka onto its subscription only streaming service) is an… interesting decision…”

Another posted: “Can you believe it -Eurosport stopped coverage of Anisimova /Osaka at 5-6 third set – appalling decision.”

Defending champion Osaka, 24, was eventually beaten by American Anisimova, 20, whether Eurosport viewers were able to watch it or not.

Anisimova said: “I’m speechless. I can’t stop smiling. I’m just laughing. I absolutely love this.

“Going into this match I knew I had to be playing sharp if I wanted to give myself a chance.

“She is an absolute champion so I knew I would have to step up my game and be aggressive.

“I’m honestly so grateful that I was able to play so well today and get this win. It means a lot.

“Every single day here is an amazing opportunity. I’m just thinking about having fun and I’m looking forward to my next round.”
