Emma Raducanu Already Talking About Retirement as She Announces When She Will Quit Tennis

At just 20 years old, tennis star Emma Raducanu is already discussing her retirement plans. Raducanu burst onto the scene with her stunning US Open victory in 2021 at the age of 18. Now, two years later, she is contemplating when she might hang up her racquet. However, British tennis fans need not worry, as Raducanu believes she still has plenty left in her career.

Mum's Influence and Inner Belief

Raducanu attributes her confidence to her mother's Chinese upbringing and the strong self-belief instilled in her. In an interview with BBC Radio 4, she explained, "It's not necessarily about telling everyone how good you are, but it's about believing it within yourself. I really respect that about the culture." She also emphasized that she still has new goals and aspirations for her career, but there is no rush as she has around 15 years left to achieve them.

Planning for the Future

Despite her calm approach to her tennis future, Raducanu is already thinking ahead and planning for life after tennis. She has been considering various scenarios and exploring the commercial aspects beyond the court. Raducanu believes it's essential to think about life after a sports career and wishes she had done so earlier. She expressed curiosity about different fields and is eager to expand her knowledge and learning. However, she remains focused on tennis and training as her top priority.

Return to Tennis

After undergoing surgery on both her wrists and ankle earlier this year, Raducanu has been out of action. However, she is aiming for a comeback in early 2024. With her talent, determination, and long-term plans, it will be exciting to see what the future holds for this young tennis sensation.
