Emma Raducanu ‘has been forced to snub MILLIONS in sponsorship deals’ and is ‘not distracted by off-court commitments’

EMMA RADUCANU has been forced to leave “millions on the table” by snubbing sponsorship deals, according to her agent.

And he also insists the British No1 is NOT distracted by her off-court commitments.

Emma Raducanu has landed plenty of sponsorship deals including with Porsche

The teenager is preparing for her second Wimbledon which starts on Monday

Raducanu, 19, rose to super-stardom last September when she won the US Open as a qualifier, not dropping a single set.

And that led to a mass influx of global brands desperate to pay her the big bucks to be their poster girl.

That has included multi-million contracts with the likes of Dior, Vodafone, Tiffany & Co, Porsche and HSBC.

But the hefty list of partners could have been a lot longer if Rads was not limited to 18 sponsor days per year.

The Bromley ace is looked after by Max Eisenbud of IMG.

And he is confident she has struck the right balance of capitalising on the opportunities without compromising on her tennis, despite the teenager’s struggles on the court since Flushing Meadows.

Eisenbud told BBC Sounds: “Not all the days have been used of the 18. There are sponsors that have those days, but many of them don’t use them.

“I would imagine by the end of the year the amount of days she uses will be around 13.

“But when the 19th day comes, and it’s millions of dollars and you have got to say ‘no’ because you’re being true to the 18 days.

“If she had zero shoot dates everything would be the same. It’s been a tough year.

“It’s probably panned out, she got a lot of bad luck and what really hurt her was (catching) Covid and not having a great off-season, and then she was playing catch up.

“But I think that if she had zero shoot dates, everything would be the same.

“I know from the outside, you guys want to look at all those things – but if she locked herself in the room for the whole year and didn’t do anything, I think it would be the same.”

Eisenbud managed Maria Sharapova as she burst on to the scene by winning Wimbledon aged 17 and then Li Na, who had an estimated 118m viewers back home in China when she won the 2011 French Open.

His model of going through the calendar and writing off the week before, during and immediately after Sharapova’s tournaments to do no commercial work was used by Na and now by Raducanu.

Eisenbud added: “Again with the same philosophy: never a week or so before a tournament, never in a tournament week and never right after the tournament.

“I understand how people who don’t understand that philosophy could think that it is distracting her, but I think when you see how it’s laid out, it really is not the case.

“Emma decided that she wants to start her shoots at 12pm or 1pm and go until 8pm or 9pm and have the option in the morning to either train or work out or do some fitness.”

Raducanu is seeded tenth at Wimbledon, which starts on Monday.

She was drawn to face Alison van Uytvanck in a tricky first round and will be desperate her side strain suffered in Nottingham is completely healed up so she can dazzle her home British crowds once again.

Rads is now one of the faces of Tiffany & Co

She is also a global brand ambassador for iconic airline British Airways
