The crowd saw the funny side, but the same couldn’t be said for the players who were battling it out for a 250,000 prize.

Although the assailants in the crowd were unknown, a small device was found under the seat.

It has been revealed on Twitter that Youtube pranksters TrollStation have claimed responsibility for the antics and they’re not willing to stop there.

According to the Daily Star, a spokesman for the group said: “Were pranksters with a conscience. We did the same thing a few days before during one of the first matches and everyone said we should go back for the final.

We do a lot of funny things to brighten peoples days.

Not many sports are really quiet like snooker. It wouldnt work for darts. We just go with the flow.

TrollStation have 1.36million subscribers on their YouTube channel.

BBC commentators John Parrott and Dennis Taylor were far from impressed with the practical joke.

Taylor said: “If they spot him, he’ll have to go.”

And as the hunt for the culprit commenced, former champ Parrott, 55, let rip: “Not very funny at all, whoever thought of that idea.”
