Rafa Nadal casts fitness doubts that hell be able to get through ATP Finals

RAFA NADAL is unsure if he will be fit enough to get through the ATP Finals.

Spanish star Nadal only started serving on Thursday, after suffering an abdominal injury which forced his withdrawal from the Paris Masters.

Rafa Nadal has raised huge fitness doubts

The world No1, 33, has played just ONE match in Londons season-ending ATP Finals since 2015.

If he fails to be ready for the opening clash with defending champion Alexander Zverev on Monday, then it opens the door for Novak Djokovic to reclaim top spot in the rankings.

But a hopeful Nadal said: The main goal is to be able to play the full tournament with the right health.

In Paris, I had to stop. Lets see how it improves.

After a couple of years here, I wasnt able to compete in the right way, I will be happy if I can play here.

Im confident I can be very competitive but, of course, in this tournament you play top guys from the beginning so you need to be 100 per cent ready.

“But I really hope I will be able to serve a little better every single day and my hope is to be serving normally by the time the tournament starts.

Im doing what the doctors tell me to do. Thats the only way to be ready for everything, in my opinion.

Its true Ive qualified for the last 15 years but I dont know how many years Ive been able to complete the tournament.

Of course Id love to be the year-end No1, theres no complaint about that. Ill be ready to play well if my body holds up.

In the Bjorn Borg Group, Serbian Djokovic plays Italian Matteo Berrettini tomorrow, while Swiss superstar Roger Federer takes on Austrian Dominic Thiem.
