A Record-Breaking Career

Margaret Court, the Australian tennis legend, has an unparalleled record in the sport. With a total of 24 Grand Slam singles titles to her name, Court has won more Slams than any other player in history, male or female.

However, it's important to note that 13 of her victories came during the Amateur Era, before tennis turned professional in 1968. Nonetheless, Court continued her domination on the court, winning 11 more Slams before retiring in 1977, with her final Grand Slam victory coming at the 1973 US Open.

A Historic Year

In 1973, Margaret Court had one of the most successful seasons ever seen in tennis. Alongside her US Open win, she also claimed the Australian Open and French Open titles. While this feat falls short of her incredible 1970 season, when she completed the Calendar Slam, it remains an exceptional achievement in the sport.

Not only did Court leave a mark on the court, but she also made history off it. Her 1973 season saw her earn a whopping $200,000, setting a new record for female athletes across all sports at that time. Today, she reportedly has a net worth of around $10 million.

From Tennis Star to Pastor

After leaving the world of professional tennis, Margaret Court embarked on a new spiritual path. Raised a Roman Catholic, she converted to Pentecostalism in the mid-1970s. Her faith became an integral part of her life, leading her to become an independent Pentecostal minister and founding her own ministry, "Margaret Court Ministries."

Sharing her journey, Court explained, "People knew about my testimony, so I was asked to share at different places all across the nation. I started Margaret Court Ministries, going out and talking to people in hard areas who had nothing and helping and teaching on depression and family."

Her dedication and impact were recognized, as her ministry expanded to 22 nations over the course of 21 years, establishing an international Bible training center with students from 13 different countries.
