Brazilian tennis star Beatriz Haddad Maia has been forced to withdraw from the Guadalajara Open Akron following a freak accident in the shower. The incident left her needing stitches on her hands, which she shared in a photo on social media.
Shower Mishap
The world number 18 found herself in the hospital after the shower box shattered, causing cuts to both of her hands. Luckily, Haddad Maia is okay, but she acknowledged that the situation could have been much worse.
Withdrawal from Tournament
In an Instagram post, she announced her withdrawal from the tournament, stating that she will need a few days to heal and will be back for the latter part of the year.
