Bianca Andreescu told a fan to ‘shut up’ at the Citi Open

The man had been shouting ‘out’ whenever Andreescu missed a serve

Footage captured the bizarre scenes at her opening round match against Marta Kostyuk in Washington DC.

Andreescu made her feelings known after the spectator repeatedly cheered when she missed a serve.

He was also reportedly saying “out” after the faults, before security was called to remove him.

The Canadian had refused to continue before the matter was resolved after growing frustrated during the third set.

Her yells at the fan were met by cheers and applause from others in the crowd before the pause in play.

Andreescu had won the opening set 6-2 before being pegged back by her Ukrainian opponent in the second.

The decisive set was level at 2-2 at the time of the incident, with Andreescu serving a double fault before turning on the spectator.

Once play resumed, it was Kostyuk who came out on top, winning 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to advance to the next round.
