US tennis ace Taylor Fritz reveals secrets behind his diet and has to load up after losing up to 4,000 calories a match

Tennis star Taylor Fritz has opened up about his diet and the secrets behind his success on the court. Among his revelations, Fritz shared that he loads up on food after losing up to 4,000 calories per match. Let's take a closer look at his extraordinary diet.

Reaching the Quarters

Fritz, who is currently ranked No8 in the world, reached the quarter-finals of both the French and US Opens this year. His impressive performance has not only earned him recognition but has also piqued the curiosity of many fans who want to know what fuels his success.

Starting the Day Right

Each morning, the 6ft 4in tennis giant begins his day with a glass of water to kickstart his system. He then follows it up with a protein shake. His goal is to consume around 1 gram of protein for every pound of his 195 lb frame throughout the day.

Fritz explained, "For breakfast, I typically have oatmeal, or I make a smoothie with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey protein powder. If I’m in a rush, I’ll eat something simple like egg white bites. I don’t usually eat a lot for breakfast, but I always make sure to have protein of some kind, and I never start my day without it."

Post-Training Carb Fix

After his training sessions, Fritz refuels with a favorite burrito bowl, ensuring he gets his carbs in. He also has a chocolate protein shake and beef sticks to boost his protein intake.

Fritz explained, "Since I’m a bigger guy, I burn a lot of calories every day. For example, in just one match, I can burn up to 4,000 calories or more. I try to achieve 0.7—1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, and being 195 pounds, it’s almost impossible to ingest close to 200 grams of protein just from food, which is where Gold Standard Whey protein powder comes in, since it gives me 24 grams of premium protein per serving and helps me meet those goals."

Balance and Replenishment

For lunch, Fritz decides what to eat based on the amount of energy he has used. If he has burned a lot of calories, he goes for a salad loaded with double the meat. If he had a tough workout, then he'll usually opt for a burrito bowl. Another protein shake made with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey follows during tennis practice.

During tournaments, Fritz keeps things simple by focusing on lean proteins like chicken and steak, accompanied by rice and pasta, to replenish the up to 4,000 calories he loses in each match. But once the competition is over, he loves nothing more than to unwind with a burger and fries as his go-to cheat meal.

Fritz said, "After a tournament, I think it’s important for me to relax a bit and allow myself to eat things I wouldn’t typically eat while training or before a match. I would say my go-to cheat meal choices are a classic burger and fries or a sub sandwich. I think giving myself that flexibility helps me stay motivated during those times that are really important for me to stick to my diet."

It's clear that Taylor Fritz's dedication to nutrition plays a crucial role in his athletic achievements. With his perfectly balanced diet, Fritz continues to dominate and make waves in the tennis world.
