GRIGOR DIMITROV told ex-girlfriend Maria Sharapova that “people change” after the two were involved in an exchange at the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne.

The Bulgarian tennis star, 28, gatecrashed his former flame’s interview in SBS’ commentary box following her exhibition clash against Laura Siegemund.

Grigor Dimitrov and ex-girlfriend Maria Sharapova had a brief exchange at the Kooyong Classic

The pair began dating in late 2012, before breaking up in 2015, but enjoyed a reunion at the Australian Open warm-up event yesterday.

With Sharapova in the middle of an interview, the Russian spotted Dimitrov lurking in her view, as she commented: “He keeps looking over.

“Can you tell him to stop looking?”

It was at that point the three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist walked over, as he asked: “What is the commentary here?”

Sharapova then was quick to point out his bright yellow shorts, as she stated: “What about this yellow thing going on?”

To which Dimitrov confidently replied: “You like it, huh?”

An unimpressed Sharapova bluntly said: “Not really.”

Sharapova complained of difficulty in playing a two-hour match against Laura Siegemund on Tuesday

A shocked Dimitrov answered: “Really?”

Sharapova once again asserted her opinion, as he said: “No, not really.”

Dimitrov then joked, “I thought you liked yellow on me but thats OK. People change, I get it”, before walking away leaving the commentary team in stitches.

Sharapova was then quizzed when they broke up, to which she said: “It’s been a while.”

The five-time Grand Slam winner’s match against Siegemund had to be called off due to the smoke in the air, with the 32-year-old complaining of difficulty breathing.

She said: “I actually started to feel a cough coming on at the end of the second set.

“But I thought maybe because I have been feeling sick for the last couple of weeks it was something to do with that.

“Then, when I heard Laura speak to the umpire about it saying she was struggling as well, I was like ‘OK, thankfully I am not the only one’.”

Qualifying for the Australian Open was cancelled earlier today due to the bushfire smoke and heavy rain that led to major air quality concerns.

Earlier in the week, smoke forced Dalila Jakupovic to retire from her match, with the Slovenian collapsing on court and suffering a coughing fit.
