Who is Alfie Hewett?

Alfie Hewett was born December 6, 1997, in Norfolk, England.

He is one of the best wheelchair tennis players in the world with multiple grand slam wins under his belt.

He began playing wheelchair tennis in 2005 and became a stand-out star during his 2012 season.

Alfie attended Acle High School and then continued his studies at City College Norwich.

He has gained qualifications in Sports and Exercise Science.

In the Rio Olympic Games, Alfie helped to create history in an all-British Paralympic men’s singles final.

He played against British star Gordon Reid, where Alfie won the silver and Gordon won the gold.

In 2018, Alfie became the singles world Number 1 for the first time in his career at just 20 years old.

He has won multiple singles and doubles titles at various competitions around the world.

Alfie was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire, an OBE, in the 2023 Birthday Honours for his services to tennis.

How many Grand Slams has Alfie Hewett won?

Since his first Grand Slam appearance at Wimbledon in 2016, Alfie has won seven Grand Slam singles titles and has been a runner-up in seven more.

Alfie is in the 2023 Wimbledon men’s wheelchair singles final after defeating Martin de la Puente in straight sets.

He has also won 17 Grand Slam doubles titles and was a runner-up in six other Grand Slam finals.

He has won Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.

What condition does Alfie Hewett have?

Alfie was born with a congenital heart defect that meant he had to get surgery aged six months.

He also lives with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, a childhood hip disorder which is where the blood flow to the head of the large bone in the leg is disrupted.

Because of the lack of blood flow, the bone dies and stops growing correctly.

Due to his health issues, it is difficult for him to walk and he has been using a wheelchair since he was six years old.

Tennis champion Alfie Hewett is in a relationship with long-term girlfriend Harrie Cundy.
