Wimbledon crowd in stitches at ‘next-level beer pong’ as Jiri Lehecka lands wild shot in unlucky fan’s pint

FANS loved the greatest game of beer pong ever at Wimbledon – as a tennis ball landed in a pint.

Supporters had packed out the No1 Court stands to watch No3 seed Daniil Medvedev face Czech rising sar Jiri Lehecka on Monday.

Jiri Lehecka tried to return a Daniil Medvedev serve

The ball landed in one fan’s drink

Leading 4-3 in the first set, Medvedev sent down a booming serve which his opponent did well to get a racquet to.

But rather than the ball coming down inside the lines on the famous SW19 turf, it flew high into the stands.

And a bloke managed to have his drink ruined – because the ball fell right into the cup.

The moment received a huge cheer and the ticket-holder was clearly not too upset – despite shelling out a whopping price for either the beer or Pimm’s.

TV cameras switched to him laughing, holding his drink aloft with the soaking yellow tennis ball floating on the half-finished drink.

And viewers flocked to social media to hail the incredible moment.

One said: “Next-level beer pong!”

Another wrote: “Beer pong in a completely new refreshed version.”

A third added: “Oh wow. Hope he keeps it, enclosed in a box or mirrored case! Only at Wimbledon.”

And a final user commented: “One-in-a-million occurrence.”

Fans are supposed to throw a ball back if they catch it during a match at Wimbledon – but it is unclear whether they did on this occasion.

The fourth-round match was temporarily suspended soon after due to a medical emergency in the crowd before Lehecka retired after losing the second set due to a nasty blister on his toe.

Wimbledon betting special: Tips, predictions and odds

The hilarious ball-in-cup moment came a day after chair umpire John Blom incredibly had to tell fans not to pop champagne corks before players are about to serve.

The Aussie official “Ladies and gentlemen, if you are opening a bottle of champagne, don’t do it as the players are about to serve.”

It came as Anastasia Potopova served in the opening game of her 6-2 7-5 defeat against 16-year-old sensation Mirra Andreeva.

Blom’s words drew laughter and applause from the crowd, while Potopova smiled and nodded her head in agreement with the message.

Ironically, qualifier Andreeva – who was knocked out after being docked a point against Madison Keys – is two years below the legal drinking age in her native country.

The supporter clearly didn’t mind his drink having an extra bit of yellow fluff
