Mother Earth wins £150,000 Prix Rothschild in thrilling FOUR-WAY photo finish for Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien

MOTHER EARTH was a world beater again as she battled to a gutsy win in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild for Aidan O’Brien.

The 1000 Guineas champ hasn’t tasted victory since her Newmarket triumph but showed she still knew where the line was at Deauville.

Mother Earth last won when a narrow winner of the Guineas under Frankie Dettori

Under an action-packed ride from Ryan Moore, she came out narrowly on top in a thrilling four-way finish against the near rail.

Moore held off the home challengers of Sagamiyra, Speak Of The Devil and Rougir with half a length splitting the quartet.

It was an incredible fifth Group 1 win across the Channel for O’Brien who could now send her back to France before a likely tilt at the Breeders’ Cup.

He said: “She’s always very tough and consistent, quickens very well and is very professional.

“She hits the front and can wait a bit but that’s not always a bad thing.

“Ryan gave her a lovely ride and she’s a very good filly. She loves racing and takes it very well.

“I think we’d stick to a mile with her, she likes the pace they go in those races. She’s in the Matron at home and the Prix du Moulin back here in less than two weeks. And we may look at America again later in the year. We’ve been very lucky in France this year and have been over with some lovely horses.”

Moore booted home a double on the card and in doing so provided George Boughey with his first ever Group race winner.

His Oscula triumphed in the Group 3 Prix Six Perfections to ensure a red-letter day for 29-year-old Boughey.
