TEAM ThoroughBid manager Cornelius Lysaght is banking on a few new faces maintaining their push for the inaugural William Hill Racing League title.
The racing broadcaster is involved with the table-toppers, with Andrew Balding Balding and Richard Hannon providing the ammunition.
Lysaght said: “For the last two weeks of the league you can bring in three new horses.
“Andrew is bringing in Carolus Magnus while Richard is subbing in Mafia Power and Bella Notte. Hopefully the fresh legs will help us stay on top.”
Team ThoroughBid are three points clear of Goat Racing on 245 points in the £2 million team competition, the majority of which have been scored by Hayley Turner.
He said: “Hayley just absolutely loves the team format, we’ve seen that down the years with the Shergar Cup.
“While she’s all smiles and jokey before the race with the other teams, she takes absolutely no prisoners out on the track.
“She’s had three winners. Under the original rules she’d have been approaching her limit of rides (which was 18), but they have been tweaked because circumstances have worked against some jockeys.
“Week One at Newcastle was a bit quiet as no one really knew what was going on, but each night the atmosphere has built up and at Windsor it was just like many of their midsummer evening meetings.
“We’re having plenty of banter with the other teams. Our sponsors Team ThoroughBid are loving it while Jamie Osborne is never short of a word for Team Swish and Charlie Fellowes’ team (Goat Racing) like getting involved too.
“The league is reaching a crescendo now and the cynicism some had of the league is fading away.
“People tell me, as they can track it, the social media hits are growing week on week.
“Our trainers are taking it very seriously, they were keen to be involved right from the outset and what else can I say other than ‘we are top of the league!’.”
