Coroebus got the better of stablemate and hot favourite Native Trail to win the 2000 Guineas.

The Godolphin-owned Charlie Appleby runner absolutely tanked through the closing stages to win at 5-1.

There was some support for the horse this morning as Native Trail weakened ever so slightly in the market.

And it proved a shrewd investment, with James Doyle putting in an expert shift in the saddle to see off William Buick’s mount.

Ryan Moore finished third on Aidan O’Brien’s Luxembourg while David Egan was fourth on the big 33-1 outsider Eydon.

Coroebus has now tightened to 10-1 for the Epsom Derby from 20-1, while Luxembourg is now 5-2 from 7-2 with Betfair.
