Chelsea suffer major transfer blow as Matthijs de Ligt edges closer to Bayern deal with Salihamidzic in Turin

CHELSEA have been dealt a major blow with Juventus ace Matthijs de Ligt edging closer to a Bayern Munich switch.

Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic will be in Turin on Monday to negotiate a fee after agreeing personal terms with the Dutch centre-back, 22.

De Ligt looks set to join Bayern despite interest from Chelsea

A five-year, £292,000-a-week deal is on the table for the 38-cap star, who would rather play for Bayern.

The Germans are believed to have offered £76million for the man Juve paid £67.5m for in July 2019.

Chelsea are keen on the Ajax youth product having lost centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on frees to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

Blues defenders Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are also unsettled.

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly met with Barca chiefs earlier this week.

And while part of the meeting was reportedly about stealing De Jong from under Man Utd‘s nose, they were also thought to be discussing deals for Azpilicueta and Alonso.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barca want to complete a deal for Azpilicueta as soon as possible.

They are prepared to offer the 32-year-old a two-year contract with the option for a further season.

Personal terms have been agreed between Barcelona and both Azpilicueta and Alonso.

However, the Spanish giants are not keen to pay a large fee for the players as the pair are out of contract next summer.

Barca are also in a huge amount of debt and are attempting to keep all transfer business to within a strict budget to avoid having problems registering new players.
