TONY BELLEW has branded Deontay Wilder ‘insane’ over his claim Tyson Fury cheated to defeat him in February.
The American broke his silence over the weekend following his loss of the WBC heavyweight title to the Gypsy King.
Wilder claimed Fury tampered with his gloves to put his fist in an improper position and stated the Brit had a hard concealed object in his gloves.
The Bronze Bomber also claimed his water was spiked with muscle relaxers before the fight, hinting it may have even been done by his own trainer Mark Breland.
He hinted at further disloyalty by Breland, who threw in the towel to stop Wilder’s brutal beating, while he blamed the loss on referee Kenny Bayless as well in his astonishing rant.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren quickly rubbished those claims, telling IFL: “All these stories, basically he’s demeaning himself and people lose respect for him when he’s coming out with this stuff.
“Just so the fans know what happens, when two guys fight for a world title as happened in Vegas and in most places around the world, a representative from the other side gets to watch the respective boxers’ hands being wrapped or bandaged by their trainers.
“These are then signed by a representative from the local commission, which was the [Nevada Athletic] commission in that case.
“When the boxers put their gloves on, they [the officials and the other boxer’s representatives] watch them being gloved up. Then around the top of the glove where the laces are, they’re normally taped up [to prevent tampering].
“And again, these are signed sometimes by the referee or by an official from the governing body. So, that’s what happened.
“To talk about weights [in Fury’s gloves], is ridiculous and beyond stupid. It’s just garbage… If anyone should scream, it’s Tyson over the first fight in California [scored a draw]. He was robbed, absolutely robbed.
“Terrible decision, but Tyson was a man, he never made one complaint, he just got on with it and put the wrong right in the second fight by doing an absolute job on Deontay, and Mark Breland saved him from further punishment.”
Now former world champ Bellew has also had his say, telling talkSPORT he thinks Wilder ‘has lost the plot’.
He said: “Insane, really insane. Whatever he’s been smoking it needs to stop. It’s absolutely insane. It’s impossible what he’s saying.
“What’s happened here is Deontay Wilder’s gone missing for quite a while.
“And he’s just got a lot of back-slappers and yes-men around him. And in the end he’s listened to these guys for months and he’s come out now and made an absolute fool of himself.”
Bellew continued: “It’s very, very sad because he’s a really good, strong fighter Deontay Wilder and he doesn’t need to go down this path.
“It’s just absolutely ludicrous. It’s ridiculous and it looks like he’s lost the plot.
“Which is very sad because Deontay Wilder, if he just comes out and says, ‘You know what guys, I lost, it happens, it’s boxing.’
“He goes into the third fight, looks at the mistakes he made, looks to rectify them. He’s always got that puncher’s chance.
“But coming out and saying that? It’s not possible. It’s insane, it’s just madness.”
Fury has chosen to fight unbeaten German Agit Kabayel on his UK homecoming, Warren revealed.
Fury decided to walk away from a trilogy bout with Wilder after the rematch clause expired last month.He will return to the ring on December 5 for a tune-up before focusing his efforts on an undisputed title decider against Anthony Joshua next year.
