Hereford Racecourse chiefs hit out at irresponsible dog walkers for ‘vandalism’ as frost sheets ripped up before fixture

HEREFORD Racecourse chiefs have hit out at dog walkers for their ‘mindless’ actions.

The course has deployed frost sheets to try and save Monday’s jumps fixture with freezing temperatures forecast.

Hereford had to replace sections of the frost sheets

But sections had to be replaced as it was reportedly ripped up by loose dogs let off the lead.

The course labelled it ‘mindless, costly and the equivalent of vandalism.’

A tweet on their account read: “Extremely disappointed and frustrated that local people have allowed their dogs to run loose & unsupervised over fleece cover deployed on course to help protect Monday’s fixture.

“Mindless, costly & the equivalent of vandalism. Keep dogs on leads & under control.”

Ground staff have replaced the broken areas and the course has spoken to the council to try and stop trespassers.

It means the course has taken a financial hit when the industry is already suffering from the continued behind closed doors action.

Monday’s fixture is reportedly set to survive the cold snap with the worst of the weather now passed.

Saturday’s cards at Wincanton, Chepstow and Kempton all passed early morning inspections.

However, Sunday’s card at Exeter is in doubt with another early morning inspection called.

The fixture at Naas tomorrow has been moved to Wednesday due to a frozen track.
