Australia’s Skye Nicolson the WBC silver featherweight title

And after ten gruelling rounds, Nicolson, 27, emerged with a points victory and the WBC silver featherweight title.

It puts her on track to contend for the full belt, currently held by Amanda Serrano, a fight she has eyed.

Serrano, 34, headlined on the evening in an undisputed title decider against Erika Cruz, 32.

The Puerto Rican – managed and promoted by YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul – took the WBC, IBF and WBO belts into the bout.

And after beating Cruz on points, she added the WBA strap to her collection to become undisputed.

Afterwards, she posed in the ring with rival Katie Taylor, 36, as the two announced their lightweight rematch.

Taylor won the initial fight of the year contender last April, to be crowned undisputed at 135lb.

But Serrano moved back down to featherweight in a bid to clean up all the belts.

And after she did so against Cruz, she is now braced to move back up to rematch Taylor in Dublin in May.

It means Nicolson could be made to wait for her shot as she continues her course to the belts.

Or she could even be in line for a vacant title challenge, should Serrano choose to stay up in weight.
