Playing FIFA with Andy Murray
Boxer Billy Joe Saunders, who was part of the Team GB squad for the 2008 Olympic Games, recently opened up about his immature behavior during his time in the Olympic Village. While looking to distract himself from an upcoming welterweight match, Saunders invited tennis legend Andy Murray to play a game of FIFA. However, Murray's response was far from friendly, with Saunders recalling, "Andy basically just told me to f**k off really."
"Childish Mentality" Almost Got Saunders Kicked Off Team
Saunders admitted that his "childish mentality" nearly saw him kicked off the team before the tournament even began. He revealed that he and fellow boxer Frankie Gavin were forced to stay in the training camp due to Gavin struggling to make weight. In an attempt to have some fun, the duo decided to steal two jet skis outside their hotel. However, their joyride took a turn when they believed they were being chased, leading to them engaging in immature behavior while out at sea.
Eager for a Return to the Ring
Despite his past antics, the 34-year-old Saunders is looking to make a comeback to the ring. He hasn't fought since losing his super-middleweight title to Canelo Alvarez over two years ago but has his sights set on a December return.
