Chris Eubank Jr in talks for July PPV grudge match with Kell Brook but fight weight yet to be agreed after Amir Khan win

CHRIS EUBANK JR and Kell Brook are in talks for a July pay-per-view grudge match – but a fight weight is still yet to be agreed.

Brook is coming off a career-defining win against bitter rival Amir Khan, which Eubank Jr was ringside to watch.

Despite the chance to retire on an all-time high, the former IBF champion, 35, is lined up for a summer return.

Promoter Ben Shalom told SecondsOut: “Kell Brook wants to fight, so he’s probably going to fight in July in a big fight.”

Eubank, 32, was in 2016 replaced by Brook in a middleweight world title fight with Gennady Golovkin, 40.

He has held a grudge ever since and promoters Shalom and Kalle Sauerland have recently been in negotiations for them to settle it.

Eubank wants Brook to come back up to middleweight but the ex-welterweight has demanded a catchweight.

The size difference is one of a few sticking points in talks, while Anthony Joshua’s delayed rematch with Oleksandr Usyk also holds things up.

Shalom is in communication with AJ’s manager Freddie Cunningham to ensure they avoid a clash of dates.

He said: “I think there’s no denying Chris wants the Kell Brook fight.

“And I think Kell will take the Chris fight if the terms are right and if the weight is right.

“We’ve started positive conversations now with Kalle, we’re working towards that, we think that will happen.

“The problem with us at the moment is Usyk-Joshua, we’re sort of having to work our schedule around that.

“So, we have big fights that we want to announce but we need to make sure we don’t clash.

“We’re speaking to Freddie a lot about that fight but making sure we don’t clash with that date.

“And that’s the bit of delay on the May/June schedule at the moment and I know it’s as frustrating for Eddie [Hearn] as it probably is for us.

“So there’s some big fights about to be announced we’re just making sure it fits in all together.”

Eubank came on board as a marquee signing for Sky Sports but returned in a non-PPV win over Liam Williams, 29.

Whereas Brook’s win over Khan, 35, is said to have sold over 500,000 box office buys – meaning his return is all-but set for PPV.

Shalom said: “I think if that fight happens, of course it will be on box office, but there’s another option for Kell and there’s another option for Chris.

“And I expect to get to the bottom of it in the next few days.”
