Paul was quick to deny the change of dates was anything to do with a lack of interest in the event.

Instead, he insisted demand was so high they were on course to break box office records.

Paul said on his YouTube channel: “The Floyd Mayweather fight is pushed which I’m completely OK with.

“The fight is still happening so easy with the rumours that there’s no interest.

“This fight broke every single combat sports record for pre-sale pay-per-view numbers – shattered them.

“I don’t want to get the narrative twisted; we had a leak inside the camp which was annoying and everyone made up their own reasons why it was postponed.

“We want to have a packed arena somewhere and on the business side we have to iron things out.

“He’s got a lot of people on his team… Al Haymon (Mayweather’s advisor) got involved.”

Paul, 25, has boxed just once as a professional, losing his debut to social media rival KSI, 27, by split-decision in 2019 after having two points deducted.

Mayweather officially retired in 2017, after beating former UFC champion Conor McGregor in ten rounds.

But he returned a year later for an exhibition against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.

The 43-year-old boxing legend recently confirmed his interest in fighting on, but only in spectacle bouts.

He even called out Paul’s brother Jake – who is 2-0 and fights ex-UFC welterweight Ben Askren on April 17 – as well as rapper 50 Cent.

Mayweather wrote on Instagram: “This year I will focus on several exhibitions. I will have an exhibition in Tokyo, Japan again.

“Of Course the one with Logan Paul and I; and if Jake Paul can get past his next opponent Ben Askren, I will have an exhibition with him as well.

“I also heard that 50 cent would fight me but claims I’m too small. If he wants to lace up at the end of the year, we can do an exhibition then.

“I don’t care about weight class with any of these guys.

“The Paul brothers will make great money with the events, but with 50 cent It has to be “Winner Take All”.”
